American roulette, as simplified, is a casino game, where people have to guess where the ball will come to a rest after spinning the wheel. In order to understand the game, people have to be familiar with the types of betting and the layout of the table before starting to play.

With numbers 0 and 00 and from 1 to 36, a roulette wheel has 38 divisions. Players usually bet on a specific number before the wheel rotates, this way foretelling the outcome of the ball’s rest. As the number arrangement is identical, the ball is having equal chances to stop on any division; when the ball comes to a certain division, on a certain number, the players betting on it wins.

There are two types of betting: outside betting means betting on the table’s outside section, while inside betting means betting on the table’s inner part. Usually there is a limit on the biggest and largest amount of money players can bet at a table. Every player can bet as much as they want within these limits. In the case of inside betting, players must make a bet equaling the smallest bet on that table. People place the straight up bet on a chosen number, having the chance of winning 35 to 1. In addition, players can split their bet on two connecting squares, where the payoff will be half.  With the chip placed on the rim line, in a split bet a player wagers on a line of three numbers; in this case the chances are 11 to 1. With a payoff of 5 to 1, players can make in a line bet two street bets. Called as a corner bet, paying 8 to 1, players can also bet on four adjoining squares. Taking place on the intersection of two rows, players can place their chips on five numbers, known as a five-bet.
